Starting with the first horse-drawn trolleys introduced by the San Diego Streetcar Company in 1886, San Diego’s history included growth and decline of several trolley systems. Douglas W. Mengers is a San Diego-based historian and archaeologist specializing in historical archaeology, the history of infrastructure and population growth of southern California, and the history of the San Diego trolley suburbs. The images for this volume, many never before published, were provided by the San Diego Electric Railway Association, the Pacific Southwest Railway Museum, the San Diego History Center, and the Coronado Historical Society. 128 pages, 212 black and white images.
